I have a GivEnergy system consisting of two batteries, two inverters and a controlling EMS (Energy Management System) which has not worked since Nov 2025. After six months I discovered Solar Tech Support, reached out to them and Ron phoned me back – how often do you get that service? Could not be more helpful – worked directly with me over the phone, outside what I would call normal working hours. Lucid explanations and we were able to discuss the issues and history using camera and email history. As this was a very rare setup, Ron was able to access an EMS expert in the field to confirm the solution. One sunny day in, I am now only paying for standing charge and a few pence for spikes in grid consumption while battery catches up with house demand.

Ron want out of is way to help, nothing was to much. He was very thorough in what he did Very knowledgeable I would highly recommend Ron and his company He did a fantastic job for me. if you have any problems, he'll do his best to help you out and resolve your problem. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them

Ron took me through a diagnostic to confirm my GivEnergy Inverter had a fault. A common one as it turns out with the AC Inverter. As GivEnergy is defunct there is no immediate fix, aside from sourcing 2nd hand replacement. It may be that a fix becomes available over the summer which would make a lot of GivEnergy customers happy (Again)

Contacted Solar Tech Support in desperation. After explaining the issues I had with my system a diagnosis was made and a solution proposed. Fantastic service, even contacted a manufacturer to arrange replacement parts for me. Great communications, explained all they were doing and what I had to do, clearly and precisly. Followed up to confirm all was ok. Excellent service.

After GivEnergy went into liquidation, just my luck, my battery started playing up (internal board crashed). Contacted my installer - not interested! Found Solar tech support on a Google search. Sooo glad I found this company! Ron is extremely helpful and has plenty of experience. He soon confirmed what the fault was, and helped me to get my system up and running again. Now moved my GivEnergy account to Solar tech support, and will definitely use again if I have more issues. Unusual to find such a helpful company in these times, no morons reading scripts, just direct contact with the engineer.

Contacted Solar Tech Support when trying to understand what my Givenergy inverter problem might be and what might be my options. Received good/honest advise which backed up my thoughts.

Ron is a super star. Two months ago my GivEnergy battery failed a firmware upgrade leaving it a brick. My installer couldn't/wouldn't fix it. GivEnergy couldn't/wouldn't fix it. Then they went into administration and all hope was lost. A flurry of emails later and Ron had diagnosed the fault (failed USB flash drive, something I'd suspected) and talked me through resolving it. Two months of nothing resolved in about 3 hours. It's great to work with someone who pays attention to the details, knows that they're doing (not just following a script) and gets stuff sorted without a fuss or up-charging.

I can add to the list of customers who had already 'given up' on GivEnergy due to their appalling customer service, and that was before they went into administration (their Trustpilot reviews don't lie!). So you can imagine my desperation when, having changed my ISP and my Inverter, predictably, proving to be the only device that didn't connect automatically to my new network, I found zero prospect of any customer support with GivEnergy having called in the administrators just five days earlier! The salvation came from Solar Tech Support. My IT advisor stumbled across their web site and some very helpful tips for beleaguered GivEnergy customers, as well as an offer to provide direct assistance. Nothing ventured, I decided to drop them an E-Mail, with very low expectations based on my experience of GivEnergy customer support. Within an hour Ron had responded with some pin point advice, and after a few exchanges of E-Mails he had nailed the problem, enabling the combined efforts of my IT advisor and solar installer to resolve it and reconnect my Inverter. Thank you Solar Tech Support, and Ron in particular, for coming to the aid of a deserted and despondent GivEnergy customer. Expert, razor sharp advice and first class customer service, even though I wasn't officially a customer.

This company are a rare gem, I had a very unusual problem following a failed firmware upgrade on my GivEnergy kit. I then found out GivEnergy were in administration and had dismissed all their support staff! None of the usual fixes to try and restore my inverter comms would work, and I looked everywhere, forums, GivEnergy youtube support videos - even AI couldn't figure it out. My installer was talking about huge sums for system replacements, and being vague / evasive about if they'd even install replacement GivEnergy inverter. Enter Solar Tech Support, reassuring and knowledgeable from the very start, I've learnt loads about my solar system though the friendly chat while my engineer worked as he diagnosed the problem and figured out a fix procedure that I've not found anywhere else - amazing . If you need solar system repairs - especially if you like me have been left high and dry by GivEnergy, I cannot recommend this company enough. Give them a call.

I sent a message on their website regarding a problem I have on my Givenergy system. Although not supplied by Ronald, I thought it was worth an email. Within the hour on a Saturday, he phoned and we discussed the problem. He logged in remotely and gave excellent advice. I'm too far away for his on-site help but he did diagnose the problem and was happy also to chat through my thoughts about an upcoming solar/battery install I'm planning. Great bloke.... if only he was nearer!

Overview

Battery + inverter + smart energy management in one floor-standing unit

The GivEnergy All-in-One integrates 13.5kWh of LiFePO₄ storage and the inverter in a single 173.7kg floor unit (181.3kg on AIO 2 + MPPT). The architecture differs by model: original AIO and AIO 3.6 are AC-coupled (cable in from an existing PV inverter); AIO 2 + MPPT is hybrid — solar panels connect directly to a dedicated MPPT module with six independent trackers.

All AIOs carry full EPS backup. Per datasheets: original AIO = 6kW continuous / 7.2kW peak; AIO 3.6 = 3.6kW on-grid / 6kW continuous / 7.2kW peak off-grid; AIO 2 + MPPT = 12kVA continuous / 14.4kVA peak off-grid. Backup only powers the designated essential-load circuit, wired at install. Grid compliance (G98 vs G99) is set by the inverter output per phase, not battery capacity.

AC-coupled (AIO + AIO 3.6) advantage

· Retrofit-friendly: existing PV inverter stays
· Original AIO: 6 in parallel max (per datasheet)
· AIO 3.6: 3 in parallel max

Hybrid (AIO 2 + MPPT) advantage

· Six independent PV trackers via the GIV-MPP-20.0-G1
· Up to 20kW of PV directly into the AIO
· 15-year warranty per datasheet (pre-administration)

Use case: properties where the DNO restricts on-grid output to G98 (≤ 3.68kW per phase), or where the customer prefers a 3.6kW export setting. Off-grid capability is unchanged.

AIO 2 + MPPT — flagship hybrid

GIV-BAT-13.5-AIO2 — All-in-One 2 + MPPT

The flagship of the AIO range. The AIO 2 inverter on its own is a 6/8/10/11/12kW configurable hybrid with 13.5kWh integrated storage; pair it with the GIV-MPP-20.0-G1 MPPT module for a hybrid system with six independent PV trackers and up to 20kW of PV input. The expansion battery (GIV-BAT-13.5-AIO2-E) adds another 13.5kWh in a 307V package — up to two of those, for a maxed-out 40.5kWh AIO 2 + MPPT system.

Key specifications

MPPT moduleGIV-MPP-20.0-G1
Expansion batteryGIV-BAT-13.5-AIO2-E
Output (on-grid)6 / 8 / 10 / 11 / 12kW configurable
Output (off-grid)12kVA continuous · 14.4kVA peak (10s)
Battery (internal)13.5kWh · 307V · 52Ah · CAN comms
Warranty (datasheet)15 years
Weight181.3 kg

Features & capabilities (datasheet)

· Six independent MPPT trackers — complex roofs and shading tolerance
· Up to 20kW PV via the dedicated MPPT module
· Configurable 6–12kW output to match DNO ceiling
· 12kVA off-grid for serious backup loads
· Two GIV-BAT-13.5-AIO2-E expansion batteries supported
· Grid Services Ready

Six independent MPPT trackers — why it matters:

1. Shading tolerance. One shaded string does not drag down the others — each tracker optimises its own string.
2. Multi-direction arrays. East / south / west splits get optimal tracking across the day.
3. Larger arrays. Six trackers + 20kW PV input handles roof setups that single-MPPT inverters cannot.

Which AIO

Choosing between the three AIO models

Three different jobs:

✓ Original AIO (GIV-AIO-AC-13.5)

· You already have a PV inverter
· Want 6kW on-grid continuous
· May parallel 2–6 units for capacity
· 12-year warranty (post-admin caveat)

✓ AIO 3.6 (GIV-AIO-AC-13.5-3.6)

· DNO restricted to G98 per phase
· You prefer the simpler notification path
· Still want 6kW off-grid for backup
· 12-year warranty (post-admin caveat)

✓ AIO 2 + MPPT (GIV-BAT-13.5-AIO2)

· New build with fresh PV
· Complex roof — need six trackers
· Want up to 20kW PV input
· 15-year datasheet warranty

When to choose a Gen 3 hybrid + GivBat instead

· You want the inverter on the wall + battery separate
· You want to start small and add batteries piecewise
· You want mix-and-match battery sizes
· 12-year hybrid warranty (datasheet)

Post-administration note: the GivEnergy hardware works regardless of GivEnergy Ltd's administration. What has changed is the warranty enforcement route — claims direct against GivEnergy Ltd no longer succeed. See the warranty page for the alternative routes (installer cover, IBG, Section 75, MCS Consumer Code, Consumer Rights Act 2015).

FAQ

GivEnergy All-in-One questions

AIO is a single floor-standing unit containing both the inverter and the battery. Original AIO (GIV-AIO-AC-13.5) and AIO 3.6 (GIV-AIO-AC-13.5-3.6) are AC-coupled — they connect to the AC output of an existing PV inverter. AIO 2 + MPPT is hybrid — solar panels connect directly to the AIO's built-in MPPT module (six independent trackers per datasheet). A standalone Gen 3 hybrid + GivBat is the modular alternative — separate boxes, more flexible for capacity changes.
AC-coupled AIO (original + AIO 3.6) needs an existing PV inverter to charge from solar — without one it can only grid-charge using timed-charge windows. AIO 2 + MPPT is the right choice for a new install with fresh panels because its built-in MPPT module accepts up to 20kW of PV directly across six trackers.
Original AIO datasheet notes "Number of Parallel Operation: 6 (coming soon)" — i.e. up to 6 units in parallel for the original. AIO 3.6 datasheet shows 3 in parallel. AIO 2 + MPPT supports up to two GIV-BAT-13.5-AIO2-E expansion batteries — each adds 13.5kWh, so a maxed-out AIO 2 + MPPT stack is 40.5kWh.
AIO 2 + MPPT pairs the AIO 2 inverter (6/8/10/11/12kW configurable on-grid; 12kVA continuous and 14.4kVA peak off-grid per datasheet) with an optional MPPT module (SKU GIV-MPP-20.0-G1, 20kW max PV input, six independent trackers). The datasheet states a 15-year warranty — both for the inverter and the GIV-BAT-13.5-AIO2-E expansion battery (which the original AIO and AIO 3.6 do not get — they were 12-year products). However, GivEnergy Ltd entered administration on 9 April 2026 so the manufacturer warranty is no longer being honoured by GivEnergy Ltd — the framing on warranty applies across the range.
Yes. Per datasheets: original AIO backup = 6kW continuous / 7.2kW peak. AIO 3.6 = 6kW continuous / 7.2kW peak off-grid. AIO 2 + MPPT = 12kVA continuous / 14.4kVA peak off-grid. EPS only powers the designated essential-load circuit — needs to be wired correctly at install. G98 / G99 compliance is determined by the inverter's rated on-grid output per phase, not by battery capacity.
A 10% reserve is a sensible default to protect cell health. If you rely on EPS for blackout backup, set higher (20–30%) so there is always reserve available during an outage. Per the GivEnergy cold-weather KB, charging is inhibited below 0°C — so an AIO in an unheated location may sit at low SoC on cold mornings until cells warm; that is expected, not a fault.
