Live 30-minute session

Engineer-led video call. We work through your system together, in real time. You see what we see, ask questions as we go.

System data review

We pull and analyse generation data, fault history, alarms, settings, and firmware. Most of what we need is in your portal or app.

Root-cause identification

Not a guess — a confirmed diagnosis. We tell you exactly what's wrong, why it happened, and what fixes it.

Written report

Emailed after the session. Confirms the fault, the recommended fix, indicative cost (if any), and any DIY steps you can take.

Honest advice

If we can't fix your fault remotely, we say so. If you can fix it yourself in five minutes, we tell you how — free of charge.

No obligation

You're under no pressure to book a fix. You can take the diagnosis and act on it yourself, or take it to another engineer if you'd rather.

Charging policy & common questions

The remote diagnostic is free. If STS cannot resolve your fault remotely, you pay nothing — no session fee, no admin fee, no surprise charges. You only pay if we fix your system. The indicative remote fix charge is from £75 (typical for settings, configuration, or firmware-related faults). On-site repairs start from a £245 visit fee. We quote any costs in writing before any work begins.
You'll get a reply the same day (within four business hours, usually sooner). We confirm a time for the 30-minute diagnostic session, typically same-day or next-day. You'll receive a Microsoft Teams or Google Meet link. During the call we work through your system live, identify the fault, and explain the fix. You get a written report afterwards regardless of outcome.
You pay nothing and we tell you exactly what to do. Many common faults (CT clamp installed backwards, Eco Mode reset by firmware, charge window timing wrong, app misconfigured) take five minutes to advise on. We give you the answer free — no obligation. Our Solar Health Plan is available from £10 per month if you'd like ongoing support for future issues.
If the remote diagnostic identifies a fault that needs on-site work, we explain the scope and quote the on-site fee (from £245 minimum visit) before we arrange a visit. You commit to the on-site work before we attend, so there are no surprises. On-site visits are paid regardless of outcome — the £245 covers our travel and engineering time on site, separate from the no-fix-no-fee remote diagnostic policy.
Within 4 hours during business hours. Most diagnostics are scheduled same-day or next-day. For emergencies (no power, complete system failure, sparks or burning smells), use the emergency repair service for priority same-day response. The diagnostic itself is a 30-minute live session at a time that suits you.

Parts are quoted separately. The remote fix charge or on-site visit fee covers our engineering labour and travel; any parts needed (inverter, battery module, CT clamp, wiring, contactor, breaker) are quoted in writing before purchase. You approve costs before we install anything. This keeps pricing transparent and prevents surprises.
Yes, we are completely independent. STS Solar Tech Support is a diagnostic and repair service, not an installer. We are not affiliated with any inverter or battery manufacturer. We don't sell new solar systems. Independence matters: we tell you whether your existing system can be saved, not whether a sale is in our interest.
Book the free diagnostic anyway. We'll review your system data, generation output, and any symptoms you describe. If everything is working correctly, we tell you that — no charge. If there's a fault you weren't aware of, we explain it. If your generation is just down because of weather or seasonal expectation, we explain that too. Free either way.
